Pauline Stitt Obituary
Pauline "Gladys" (Strzelec) Stitt, 87, of Vandergrift, passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, at AHN-Allegheny General Hospital. Born April 12, 1930, in Kittanning, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Strzelec and Wladyslawa "Lottie" (Demolin) Strzelec. Gladys was a 1948 graduate of Vandergrift High School, and worked as a pharmacy technician at just about every pharmacy in Vandergrift, including the former Sanders Pharmacy. She was of the Catholic faith. Gladys loved bargains, and especially enjoyed going to flea markets. She was an excellent cook and baker, known for her chocolate cookies and sweetbread. Gladys also loved watching and feeding birds and hummingbirds, and liked listening to polkas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Eugene Stitt, who passed away in 2000; and a sister, Marcie Miechkowski. Gladys is survived by her sons, Gregory "Gregg" A. (Lori Vargo) Stitt, of O'Hara Township, and Thomas G. "Tom" (Penny) Stitt, of Vandergrift; grandchildren, Kayla (Jonathan Westergom) Stitt, and Joseph (Breanna Byers) Stitt; sisters, Clara (Walter) Ray, of Florida, and Lee Paquet, of Avonmore; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. A Blessing Service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, in the funeral home, with Father Michael Sciberras officiating. Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo.
