Rocco J. Cartisano Obituary
Rocco J. "Rocky" Cartisano, 86, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at Embrace Hospice House, in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Born May 28, 1931, in Arnold, he was the son of the late Philip Cartisano and the late Mary Catherine "Kate" Schlabig Cartisano. Mr. Cartisano served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was a recent recipient of the Quilt of Valor. He was of the Methodist faith and served as a volunteer with the Conway Chamber of Commerce. Rocky graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and studied towards his masters degree at the University of Maryland. He enjoyed a long career as a manager with Western Electric and worked as a research associate with Coastal Carolina University. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years, Dorothy Knepshield Cartisano. Survivors include his children, Robert Philip Cartisano, of Greensboro, N.C., Cathy Ann Cartisano Andrews and husband, John, of Myrtle Beach, and Carol Lee Cartisano Yost, of Lexington, N.C.; his grandchildren, Emily Spitzbergen, Martin Spitzbergen and wife, Tori, Sarah Thomas and Alex Thomas; his great-grandchildren, John, Hank and Wade Spitzbergen; his sister, Laura Greene, of Myrtle Beach; and his nieces, Linda Beauchamp and Karen Lashomb.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at GOLDFINCH FUNERAL HOME, CONWAY CHAPEL, officiated by Chaplain Fuzzy Lake. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018.
