Glenn T. Ross Obituary
Glenn Thomas Ross, 83, of Greensburg, passed to his heavenly reward Friday, March 30, 2018, in his home, with family by his side. He was born Dec. 8, 1934, in New Kensington, to Frank and Ellen Ross. He was a graduate of New Kensington High School and worked most of his life as a computer operator at United States Steel Research Lab in Monroeville. Glenn was a member of Poke Run Presbyterian Church, Apollo, where he served as an elder, choir member, treasurer, Sunday school teacher and clerk of session over the years. Glenn especially enjoyed music and attending musical theater events. He looked forward to spending time with his large family and felt very blessed to have so many great-grandchildren in recent years. His church activities were important to Glenn, and he enjoyed time in fellowship with many friends. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Mary Ellen Ross; his two sons, David (Barbara) Ross, of Rochester, Mich., and Douglas (Debora) Ross, of Saltsburg; two daughters, Amy (Jeffrey) Hartman, of Huntingdon, and Kimberly (Lawrence) Klobuka, of Swansea, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his stepson, George (Angela) Belan, of Liberty, S.C.; and stepdaughters, Rosemary (Jeffrey) Spoljarick, of North Huntingdon, Anna Belan and Kyle, of Travelers Rest, S.C., Cathy (Randy) Hawkins, also of Travelers Rest, S.C.; nine stepgrandchildren and one stepgreat-grandchild. Glenn is also survived by a sister, Alberta Claypoole, of Ormond Beach, Fla. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Alta Jean Ross; four brothers, James, Roy, Robert and Donald; and a sister, Josephine.
Visitation will be from 2:30 to 4:30 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, 724-468-1177. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Poke Run Presbyterian Church, 1091 Poke Run Church Road, Apollo, PA 15613, with the Rev. Peter Goetschius officiating, assisted by Glenn's grandson, Pastor Josiah D. Hartman, of Sayre. Everyone please meet at the church. Burial will be in Poke Run Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Apollo.
