Gordon Lukus Obituary

Gordon "Gordie" Alan Lukus, 58, of New Kensington, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, in his home. He was born Sept. 1, 1953, in Arnold, to the late Donald and Marilyn (Francart) Lukus. He lived in the New Kensington area most of his life. Gordie was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Gordie was retired from Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. in Brackenridge, where he was employed as a millwright, retiring in 2009. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Upper Burrell. He was a state constable, president of Tarentum District Sportsman's Club, a certified firearms instructor, a current member of the New Kensington Planning Commission, a former member of the New Kensington-Arnold School Board and formerly worked as a deputy sheriff for Westmoreland County. He was also a lifelong member of the NRA. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl (Adam) Lukus, of New Kensington; son, Michael (Sonya) Lukus, of Greenville, S.C.; daughter, Jessica Lukus, of New Kensington; son, Peter Lukus, of Pullman, Wash.; two grandchildren, Nayana Lukus, of New Kensington, and Jeadyn Lukus, of Greenville, S.C.; a brother, Scott (Julie) Klara, of Bethel Park; a sister, Georgia Cole, of Danville, Pa.; and numerous cousins in the New Kensington area. Family and friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in the FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Jeff Youell officiating. Private burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Lower Burrell.
