William A. Sheesley

1932 - 2015

William A. "Bill" Sheesley, 82, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully at home Monday, Nov. 30, 2015. He was born Dec. 25, 1932, in Blairsville, to the late Clayton and Elizabeth "Betty" Sheesley. Bill was a graduate of Blairsville High School in 1953, where he was in the marching band. He worked at G.C. Murphy in Blairsville and New Kensington and later was an inspector for Westinghouse Electric in both Blairsville and Cheswick for 35 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church where he was a member for 60 years. He was also a Boy Scout leader and was in charge of Troop 143, which met at St. Joseph Church. He enjoyed traveling with his wife in their R.V. and had visited 49 states. He lived in Florida for 15 years and worked for Disney World for several years. Bill enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his family during holidays. He also liked to camp and fish. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Loretta Mae Flynn Sheesley; children, Randy L. (Lisa) Sheesley, of Albuquerque, N.M., Terry W. (Cindy) Sheesley, of Lower Burrell, Ronald J. Sheesley, of Russellton, and Lori Ann (Richard) Smith, of New Kensington; four grandchildren, Scott (fiance, Kristie Omecinski) Smith, Roxanne Sheesley, Heather (boyfriend, Seth Richard) Smith and Terry Sheesley; and his sister, Aletha Hemphill Franz, of Clarksburg. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest and Edward Sheesley.
Viewing will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where prayers of transfer will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 1125 Leishman Ave., New Kensington. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
