Andrew Chesmark Obituary

Andrew Henry Chesmark, 85, of Lower Burrell, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot. He was born July 31, 1922, in Tarentum, a son of the late Andrew and Lula (Monschein) Chesmark Sr. and was a lifelong resident of the local area. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Lower Burrell, as well as the Lower Burrell American Legion and VFW Post 92. Mr. Chesmark was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the Marines and received a Purple Heart. He worked as a quality control inspector for General Electric and J&L Steel Conduit Division in New Kensington for 30 years until his retirement in 1978. He enjoyed gardening, working around the house and was an avid Steelers and Penguins fan. Andrew is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Campbell Chesmark; sons, Andy (Lori) Chesmark, of Wadsworth, Ohio, Bill Chesmark and Jerry (Eileen) Chesmark, both of Lower Burrell; grandchildren, Stacy (Kevin) Carpenter and Chad, Brian and Kevin Chesmark; great-grandson, Gabe Carpenter; and brother, John (Jean) Chesmark, of Coraopolis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Teri Lyn Chesmark; and his sisters, Helena Costanza and Della Klingensmith. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at RUSIEWICZ FUNERAL HOMES INC., 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder Street, Lower Burrell. Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Margaret Mary Church. Burial with military honors by the Marines will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. The American Legion will conduct memorial services at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
