Larry N. Bopp

1946 - 2016

Larry N. Bopp, 70, of North Apollo, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot. Born April 13, 1946, in Gilpin Township, he was a son of the late Henry and Alma (Robison) Bopp. Larry lived in North Apollo since 1980, and was a 1964 graduate of Apollo High School. He proudly served our country with the Marines. Larry worked as a roller and operator for Allegheny Ludlum in the West Leechburg and Bagdad plants, retiring in October of 2004. After retirement, he drove school bus for Moore Bus Company. Larry was a member of the Slovak Clubs in East and North Vandergrift; East Vandergrift Lithuanian Club; Apollo Eagles No. 4205; and the American Legion Post 114 in Vandergrift. He was fond of the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing and camping. Larry was always on the go and liked to travel. But he most loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his daughter, Jamille Sue Bopp. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ailene M. (John) Bopp; daughter, Stacey L. (Francis Pallone) Bopp, of North Apollo, Larry "Neil" Bopp, of North Apollo; grandchildren, Leo Kimmerle III, Neil Bopp, Saleena Brown and Kaden Bopp; sisters, Carla Cannon, of Texas, Luonna (Bill) Atkins, of Texas, Tonya (David Booth) Kelly, of Leechburg; brother, Craig (Mary "Mimi") Bopp, of New Mexico; and nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016, in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2016, in the funeral home with military honors accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
