Obituaries from Two Days Ago

REMICK, DAVID
David Hans Remick Dave Remick, 80, passed away at his home in Edgewood, WA on December 18, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. His loving family was at his side. Dave was born in Los Angeles, CA on May 6, 1934 to Edwin E. and Bertha Brandt Remick. He was raised in and around Los Angeles, where he attended high school and was a highly regarded football player and track star. After high school, Dave completed electrician training and worked for years on electrical projects in central and northern California. In 1969 Dave moved to Washington State to attend Faith Evangelical Lutheran Seminary. After graduation from seminary, and upon reflection about his life's true purpose, Dave made a decision to return to his career as an electrician. However, he remained a faithful and dedicated servant to Christ through the Lutheran Church for the next 40 years. Dave and his wife Mae married in 1980 and lived a happy life, with homes at various times in Tacoma, Yelm, and Edgewood. He was proud of his lifelong union affiliation and was a member of local IBEW 76 for over 40 years. Dave enjoyed fishing, woodworking, reading, watching the Seahawks, news programs and westerns. Most of all, Dave was devoted to his wife Mae, and she to him. They shared a long and happy marriage of love and respect, rich experiences, frequent laughter and love of family and friends. He had the gift of story-telling and a passion for debating politics. An intelligent man, Dave was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor, held strong political and social convictions, and demonstrated a deep and abiding faith in God. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Christina, sister Ruth and her husband Thomas, brother Richard and his wife Winifred, and brother Edwin. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Mae Menotti Remick, his daughter Sherilyn, son Randy (Kathy), daughter Lorna (Michael), daughter Maria, stepdaughter Sandra (Jeff), stepdaughter Sharon (Gary), 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces, and 3 nephews. There will be a memorial service and celebration of Dave's wonderful life at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 2306 Milton Way, Milton WA, on Saturday, December 27, 2017 at 11 a.m. Refreshments will be provided at the church after the service. Donations in Dave's name may be made to the American Cancer Society. A private interment will be held at a later time by the family at Mountain View Cemetery in Tacoma, WA.
