MICHAEL JOHNSON

Michael Johnson 6/4/53 ~ 6/6/14 Michael Allen Johnson, age 61, passed away surrounded by family. Though cut short by cancer, he lived a full and blessed life. He attended Ruston Elementary, Truman, Wilson (1970), and University of Washington (1975): BS in Marine Biology. He attended law school. He worked for Sea World caring for killer whales. He commercially fished in Alaska for over 15 years. He was a ship and aircraft pilot. He served on Ruston's Town Council, and as a firefighter and EMT. Recently, he was an inspector on road construction projects. He was a Hunter Safety Instructor, gun collector, and worked on car and boat engines. He enjoyed BBQs at his beach house, baseball games, camping, skiing, hunting, and Point Defiance Park. He enjoyed traveling, with a second trip to Australia planned. A Lutheran, he served in leadership at Agnus Dei and Redeemer. Michael was preceded in death by parents Russell and Corinne Johnson, and sister Caryl Linder. He is survived by wife Kathryn Nelson, children Ericka Shamp (Caleb), Katherine Powers (Chris), and Matthew Johnson, sister Linda Napier (Bob), brother Larry Johnson, four grandchildren, uncle Roger Krona, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
