Tom was a painting buddy of my Dad, George Kosanovic- they truly enjoyed each other´s company! I remember some kind of "painting race" they had to reach/complete 1000 watercolors. Tom once invited all of 4 us over to his Day Island apt/home (my parents, and my sister and I (aged 10 & 11)He made artichokes with clam dip and a Cioppino Sea Food stew that was out of this world, no Cioppino has even come close- it was a life altering dinner for me. Wish I had the recipe- I keep thinking how wonderful it was that he had us over. He did keep talking about a "Madame Z" always wondered who that was. RIP in the great Plein -Air studio in the sky, Tom

I just learned of Tom Rickard through my work at the Gordon House. His letter correspondance with Evelyn Gordon struck such a chord with me, I wanted to learn more. He clearly was a beautiful, artistic soul, who kept in touch with those whom he held near. The world could use more people like Tom.

I just learned about this from one of the cousins Felicia mentions. I can't really add anything that Joan hasn't already said. He and I had reconnected a few years ago through his interest in my Great Grandfather and I was blessed to be included in the list of folks who received some of his art and photography. As always I wish I had called and written him more often.

It was quite a shock to learn that our
Tomaso died. He was "family" for over 60 years. I have many of his letters from the 60's on. Although we hadn't seen each other for ages, there was continual contact. He was a very special man.... sometimes serious, always interesting with much to say and often full of wit and subtle humor. Our Mother adored him and he her. She was always delighted to get letters from him, usually when the first violet bloomed and he could enclose one he'd found and dried. His paintings and photos, esp. of Butler Creek Farm, are lovely. We are all lucky to have what he so beautifully created. And to have ourmemories live through his work.

Tomaso, as we called him, was an old family friend of my mom and aunts and was like an uncle to my cousins, my sister and myself. I remember him mostly from my childhood (back in the sixties) and him telling us about "zee good fairies and zee bad fairies." I think that was his funny way of keeping us in line. He was full of stories, such a character! He took many beautiful photos of the family which we will always treasure.

Tom was an old friend who I first met while working at Chaffee Zumwalt, Landscape Architects offices in Lakewood. Tom and I shared many hours working over our drafting tables and we had some great conversations. You be missed old friend.
