Mrs. Christine P. Somera Mrs. Christine P. Somera, a longtime Auburn resident, passed away at Auburn Regional Medical Center on April 11, at the age of 85, with her family by her side after a battle with complications from a recent surgery. Christine was born December 18, 1925 in Asingan, Pangasinan, Philippines. After a long teaching career in her native Philippines, she met her future husband, Silver Somera, and was married on January 27, 1963. She moved to the Auburn area with her husband shortly thereafter, where they raised their 2 children. She worked at various companies throughout the years, including Boeing, Cortec, Heath Tecna, and others. She retired from Hitco (BP Chemicals) after 18 years of employment. She enjoyed her retirement, was active with the Pacific-Algona Senior Center, the Filipino-American Community of Puget Sound, the Worshipful Maria Clara Lodge 132, and also relaxed by caring for her garden and house plants. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and attending their various school and sporting events. Christine was preceded in death, 11 years ago, by her husband Silver. She is survived by her daughter Chris, her son Andy (wife Andrea), her foster daughter Bonnie (husband Terry), her grandchildren Michelle, Travis, Lucas, Keilani, and Duncan. Also numerous nieces and nephews abroad, and extended family and friends in and around the area. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Rosary/Memorial services on Friday at 6:00 p.m.; both will be held at Price-Helton Funeral Home in Auburn. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Auburn. Burial services will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn.
