MARIE BAKER Obituary

Marie Jane (Songer) Baker Passed away peacefully at her home on March 24, 2011. She had battled Parkinson's disease for several years. She was married to Dwight (Bud) Vincent Baker. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 27 of this year. Marie spent her life being a wonderful wife and mother. She was active in her church, Bethany Baptist, until her Parkinson's would not allow her to attend any longer. Marie loved to play the piano for the Wednesday evening service and also played for a local nursing home. During the last few years, she was lovingly cared for at home by her husband. We wish to thank the various caregivers who also helped with her care. We also want to express a tremendous thank you to the hospice team from Multicare Good Samaritan Hospice for their help and support over the last few months. Marie's life was centered around her family. She is survived by her husband, daughters Diane (Mel) Braunagel and Nancy (Richard) Clarey, son David (Cindy) Baker, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her memory please send a donation to Multicare Good Samaritan Hospice at PO Box 5200, MS 3901-1-HH, Tacoma, WA 98415. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Woodbine Cemetery, Puyallup. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at the Sumner United Methodist Church, 901 Wood Ave. Sumner. Arrangements by Curnow Funeral Home & Cremation Service. 863-2800. I wanted to let you know what a blessing and privilege it was to get to know Marie during her last months. She was a sweet and gentle spirit, with a quick wit and a quicker smile. I look forward to meeting her again someday. Even so, Lord Jesus, come!

It's sad when somebody has to battle a disease such as Parkinson's, but its obvious that her friends and family cared for her with all their hearts. My condolences. God gives up hope for our loved ones who have passed away. Also, remember one of the last things Jesus said in his earthly life "Truly I tell you today, You will be with me in Paradise.” and it is a paradise that we are all looking forward to :) email me if you want to talk.
