DANIEL HIGGINS Obituary
Daniel John Higgins was born in San Diego, CA to John and Sharon Higgins on Dec. 19, 1977. He graduated from Henry Foss High School in 1996. He received his Associate of Arts degree from Tacoma Community College in 2000. Dan, who worked at Savers Inc., loved tinkering with computers and electronics, but he was happiest spending time with wife, Reona', and their three daughters, Kaliana (9), Karina (6), and Kayden (3). He enjoyed sports, especially football and soccer. His daughter, Kaliana, attends St. Patrick School where his A/V skills were put to good use at auctions and other school events. For Dan, family was his life, and he truly cherished every minute with them. Dan is survived by his wife of 12 years, Reona' (Dredd), daughters Kaliana, Karina and Kayden, parents John and Sharon, brother Matthew Higgins, and sister Chelsea (Mark) Lindquist and niece Malina. Daniel truly was a gift from God, and it was with a profound sense of loss that we saw him returned to God on Sunday, Feb. 6. He enriched the lives of others with his helpfulness and humor. He thoroughly enjoyed life. A Funeral Mass for Daniel will be celebrated on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church. The vigil will be held on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 7 p.m. at Gaffney Funeral Home. Messages of condolences may be expressed at gaffneycares.com or memorialwebsites.legacy.com/DanielJHiggins . Dan I am definitely going to miss you. We had a lot of good times together. Thank you for being someone that your friends and family could always count on when it mattered most. There are people in all of our lives that burn bright. They exude personality and charisma. Daniel Higgins was one of these people.

Higgins Family,
There are so many funny memories I have of Dan. We went to Foss together as well as working at McDonalds together. The thing that I remeber most was his laugh. I can hear it now when i think of him. He truly was a great friend as well as a great Father. I remember the first time Reona and Dan brought Kaliana to visit at Mcd's, she was so beautiful!
Reona I truly am sorry and very sad for Daniels loss. I am here to help in any way possible, just call me.

Words cannot tell you how sorry we were upon hearing of Danny's passing.
We had the pleasure of knowing Danny through Foss Soccer. Danny was a gifted soccer player, with lots of determination and drive. It was great to see the man, husband, father he turned out to be! Thank you for sharing all the pictures!
As parents, siblings, wife and daughters, we want you to know you are in our prayers and we will always remember Danny's smile and his goal scoring moves and will celebrate the fact that we were lucky enough to have known Daniel Higgins! God Bless all of you!

My mind takes me to fun memories making home made ice-cream in the backyard of the Tacoma house with my "Washington cousins," Pop Pop, & Aunt Eleanor...great road trips in the blue windstar...now, viewing this site's pictures of one of those fun cousins as a Grown Man, Husband, and Daddy...taken much too soon, is hard to know it's real. The great little boy I remember visiting with Aunt Eleanor and Pop Pop...making homemade ice cream with "all of you" cousins in your back yard at the house in Tacoma...wonderful trips with your family...now seeing the pictures of the grown Man, Husband and Dad here on this site...taken from this world much too soon...just don't understand...

I went to Curtis Junior High with Reona in the 90s. Reona and Daniel were dating back them but I remember them being inseperable, they were made for each other. My friends and I used to comment on how quiet and kind Daniel was and knew that he would be a soulmate for Reona. Daniel lived his life in the right way. There is a saying about when you pass...on your headstone you read year of birth and year of death and you see a dash between the two dates...that dash is your life. I know Daniel lived that "dash" in the best way he could and his legacy will carry on forever in his beautiful wife and children.

Dear Higgins Family,I attended Foss with Daniel (Dan) and I remember him being very kind as I was a younger classmate. I remember him most playing football for us and making my Freshman year very exciting at Friday night games!!! We lived next door to the Higgins on Sheridan Street for many years. It was a joy watching the children grow --Daniel was darling and loveable, and I recall that he was always kicking a soccer ball around in the backyard. I was sad to read of his death yet happy that he grew to be such a fine young man with a beautiful, loving family. The entire Higgins family has our deepest sympathies and we are holding you in our hearts during this difficult time. May you find peace and comfort in the days ahead.

Your Dad is a great man that spoke very highly of his girls. I will never forget his positive attitude and how he used it. Good times and bad he always greeted me with a smile. He is a hard worker and vary knowledgeable about the sound system at St Pats. I see a lot of Dan in Kaliana and while I don't know the other girls I'm sure they do too. Your dad is one very COOL GUY and I'm glad to have known him.

Wow! Seeing Dan's picture really blows me away. I attended high school with both Dan and Chelsea and I remember him as such a fun guy. He always had a smile on his face and was really funny. I pray for strength for Chelsea and the entire family during this time of heartache. I would like them all to know (especially his wife and daughters) that they can get through this with the help of God, he will provide comfort for them.
