James Norris Obituary

James E. Norris Beloved husband, father and grandfather James E. Norris passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 20th, 2011. James was born February 12th, 1932 in Effingham, Illinois to Oscar and Mildred Norris. He graduated from St. Anthony's Catholic High School, then joined the Air Force and was stationed in Tacoma, Washington, where he fell in love with and married Theresa Rettura. After a brief post in Alaska, Jim and Terry made their home in Tacoma, where James was employed by the US Post office for thirty years and was a member of NALC Union branch 130. After retiring from the post office, James worked for Carlson Wagonlit Travel for fifteen years. James loved to read historical fiction novels, watch war movies, and was an avid Mariners fan. James leaves behind Theresa (Terry), beloved wife of 58 years, sister Marilyn Swaggert, daughter Kate Norris, son Tom Norris (Juli Norris), son-in-law Eliot Wirshbo, grandchildren Natalie, Hannah, and Jack, and many in-laws and nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by his dearly loved daughter Christine Norris. James will be loved and missed by all who know him. A Memorial Mass will be Thursday, 11am, April 28th, 2011 at St. Patrick's Church in Tacoma. The family would like to thank Franciscan Hospice for all their care and support. Dearest Terry,
So sorry in hearing of Jims passing. What a great person He was!
You and Jim were truly dear friends of my Mom & Dad.
I will never forget the great times that our families shared over the many years. You two were like extended parents to me.

Dear Aunt Theresa and family,
I was so saddened to hear of Uncle Jim's passing. Wow!! What a good fight he fought!! I'm so grateful for the MANY years you two were given to share your lives with each other. Try to hold on to as many cherished and fun memories of your time together as you can. Uncle Jim was a great guy! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.
