Annette Tobin Obituary

Annette Helene Packouz Tobin Annette Helene Packouz Tobin (3/23/1931 04/03/2011) was born in Portland, Oregon, daughter of Nathan and Bertha and sister to Bill. By her own accounts, Annette had a loved and pampered childhood in Portland where she attended Grant High School and was a Rose Festival princess. She met husband Irving at the University of Washington. When Irv finished medical school and training, they settled in Seattle and then moved to Mercer Island where they raised their family. Annette was committed to her children, active in school, sports, and community, and was a dedicated and proud participant in the King County Medical Society, the USTA Junior Development program and the American Cancer Society Masked Ball fundraiser. When her kids were in college and medical school, Annette went back to school, graduating from the UW "first in her class" at age 51. She was very proud of this as well her backpacking trip in Europe after graduation. She enjoyed tennis and bridge and the lifelong fr iends who comprised "The Poker Club" and the close friendships these activities nurtured. Irv and Annette were married 54 years when Irv died in 2005. Annette will be most fondly remembered for her fun-loving spirit and zest for life. Annette Tobin is survived by her children Richard and Jennifer Tobin, Nancy and John Cox, and Leslie Tobin, and grandchildren Andrew, Lisa, Matthew, and Chad. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at noon at Temple de Hirsch Sinai in Seattle. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 100 W. Harrison Street, North Tower, Suite 200, Seattle, 98119, 1 800 272 3900, alz.org.
