BETTY CARLSON Obituary

Betty May Carlson On January 28, 2011, Betty died peacefully with her daughter Vicky by her side. Betty was born March 4, 1930, to Don and Charlotte Fassett in Vancouver, WA. She spent her childhood in Amboy WA, where she learned farming, horseback riding, and in school, won every spelling bee that was held. She even learned to drive the mail truck! In January 1949, she married Victor Christensen. They lived in the Seattle, Tacoma areas until they settled in Lakewood. Together, they had two children, Vicky and Donovan, the loves of their lives. At the beginning she was a homemaker, homeroom mother, and leader of brownie, girl and boy scouts for years. She was a superior bowler. Her first job after her children started school was driving the dump truck that she and Vic bought together. She later divorced Vic and went on to become a nurse. She worked at Western State Hospital. In 1964 she met and later married Jack Carlson. Together they hosted numerous parties, entertained people both in Lakewood and on the Deschutes River where they had ideal property for partying. Betty cooked fabulous meals and no one ever left hungry. After the death of Jack, Betty was called upon to care for her mom and after her death, her father. She gave selflessly. Betty was preceded in death by her son Donovan, her grandson Robert Horn, and her second husband, Jack. She is survived by her daughter Vicky, her grandson Justin and her great granddaughters Taylor and Jordan, her sister Lorraine Waser and her niece Terry, nephew Ramey, her step daughter Linda Crocker (Lester), granddaughters Wendy and Nicole, and step sons, Steve (Kathy), Chuck (Susan) and numerous great grandchildren. Friday February 11th, 3:00pm celebrate Betty's life: 10311 Whitman Ave SW, Lakewood, WA 98499

Betty was a big part of our lives. We had many good times at the river, Burrs and her home. Lots of laughs. She loved to cook for people. We always teased her because I dont think she knew how to cook for less than 10 people. She is going to be missed. Love you Betty.
