BRIAN DODDS Obituary

Brian Thomas Dodds 9/22/1938 - 2/27/2011 He loved to make people laugh He was born in Los Angeles, CA to Connie Pugh Dodds and George Dodds. He had a career with the Los Angeles County Lifeguards that spanned over 25 years, but also managed to spend several years as a commercial airline pilot. At a young age Brian, along with a group of friends, moved to Hawaii and pioneered big wave surfing. As an elite group of "Watermen" they set the stage for the extreme sport that it has become today. The last 25 years of his working career were spent in the telecommunications industries, which afforded him the benefits of frequent flyer miles for extensive recreation travels with his loving wife. His free time was spent with his boat, fishing, golf, and laughing. He was a great role model for his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He is remembered for his ability to make everyone around him laugh with his unique sense of humor. He leaves behind Linda his wife of over 25 years, son Brian Jr, daughter Terri Dietlein (Bill), stepdaughters Merry Belverud (Mike) and Traci Griffin, special friend Terry Nishiyama, 10 loving grandchildren, and numerous close friends. A celebration of his life will be celebrated at the Fox Island Yacht Club at 2 pm on March 26, 2011 when 'Brian will catch his final wave.' Donations may be made in his memory to The Chapel on Echo Bay, Fox Island Historical Society, or the Fox Island United Church of Christ.

Hello Linda , my name is Chris mosieur, married to Brian's niece Sandy, we met after your marraige to him, at Beverlys memorial, and when I came to your house 11 years ago, when my wife and I met with your neighbor and we bred a pair of Alpacas there. we talked briefly, Brian did not come to the door, but I was glad to speak with you then. I would enjoy doing that again now if your open to it.

Dad~

Your life made the capers of Indiana Jones look like a Boy Scout! The adventures you lived and the stories you told were epic. Brian has managed to fill your shoes, but only a bit. His tales aren't nearly as spectacular.

You gave me a love for music at an early age. When everyone else was getting into the punk scene, I was happily snapping my fingers to Herb Alpert and the Brazil 66! Your fine taste lives on in your granddaughter, Christina, who has become an accomplished jazz musician and hopes to attend University of Washington on a music scholarship.

William shares your love for food, and your unique sense of adventure in the kitchen, and Wesley shares your wry sense of humor. Like you, he graduated school at 16 and is enjoying his college adventures and extreme sports. He is raising the bar for skiing the way you raised the bar for surfing.

All is well, Dad. Rest in peace. We will have a lot to catch up on when I meet you on the other side.

Love Always ~ Terri
