The backbone of the Henderson Family will be greatly missed. My family and I were finally able to meet the paternal side of our family at the Chicago reunion in 2009. However, this was only done because of the persistance and insistance of "Cousin Carrol" who kept in constant contact with me. I am grateful to God that I was able to meet him in person..although I have known him for many years through calls and letters. To all family members, but especially Verbe, Johnnie, Ruth, Diane and James, you have my deepest sympathy...I know your loss. God bless and comfort you now and in the coming days. Rest assured that you have the love and prayers of all in the family that your father brought together through the reunions.

Dear Grandpa,
You were indeed the Father of this entire Henderson family. It was so wonderful that God allowed you to live such a long and fruitful life and I was able to be part of your life for so many years. Through the years having your wisdom and love has been a great joy to all of us. I never knew your parents or have ever had Great Grandparents, so I am truly thankful to God that Tamera and Adrien were able to have a Great-Grandfather to love and enjoy. You were such a true gentleman, your quiet demeanor and thoughtful nature will be missed the most. You always seemed to know the right thing to say and at exactly the right time. Your generation is being referred to as “the greatest generation,” having grown up with you and Grandma I understand what they mean, you exemplified all the best qualities that define your generation; hard-working, honest, strong, patriotic, and family oriented. You have left us all with so many great memories that we will never forget. I pray that your legacy will continue throughout this family that you helped to create and nurture. I know that there is a great deal of you and who you were in all of us. Until we see each other again, I love you and miss you!
Love,
Ebony
