Claire Sigl Obituary

Claire Sigl Born Claire Quilty, Brisbane, Australia March 6, 1925; deceased April 26, 2011, Lakewood, WA. Preceded by daughter Claire Marie and brother Ellis. Survived by daughter Judith Lynn, sons David Gregory and Robert Reginald, and grandchildren Jake, Kelley, Shelby and David. Born to a prominent Queensland cattle family, Claire enjoyed her early years living between far northern cattle stations and Loreto Catholic School, Brisbane. Like many young Australians, she volunteered during World War II, where she met and married American pilot Robert Sigl in Manila. At the age of twenty-two she moved to America, became a citizen five years later, and raised a family of four children. She dedicated her life to family and friends in America. Early years were spent as a military wife in Texas, the Midwest and England. The family settled in Lakewood, Washington in the mid-sixties, where she remained. Claire traveled extensively with friends and family to such far-flung destinations as South America, Mexico, New Zealand, Norfolk Island, Hawaii, Europe, and of course several trips back to Australia. Her interests included long walks around nearby lakes, painting beautiful watercolor scenes, reading great novels, gardening, and tea with friends. Claire was always present for her four grandchildren, who loved her dearly. Her kind and gracious nature will be missed by all forevermore. We all love you Mum! Life's Race Well Run. Life's work Well Done. Life's Crown Well Won. Now Comes Rest. Oh God, Thy Will be Done.
