EDWARD WERNER Obituary

Edward Albert Werner Our beloved patriarch Edward Albert Werner passed away peacefully at his home on Feb. 7, 2011. Ed was born in Akron, Ohio on April 10, 1928, and moved to Tacoma when he was 9 years old. There, he attended Lowell Elementary, Mason Jr. High, and Stadium High School. He went on to WSU and was a life-long Cougar fan. The center of his life was always his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Janet, children Mary (Don) Michelson, Kathy (Randal) Morford, Paul (Jana) Werner, and Gary Werner, and brother Oscar Werner. He was a friend and mentor to his grandchildren Sara, Jeremy, Chris, Jeff, Dan, and Matt, and great-granddaughter Mackenzie. He was an excellent swimmer, state champion three years in a row, and an energetic, enthusiastic dancer. He enjoyed golfing at Gig Harbor Golf Club, playing bridge, and traveling in his retirement years. He was a veteran of the Korean War and retired from the Army Reserve as a Lt. Col. He taught school in Seattle and worked in commercial real estate when he moved to Fox Island in 1973. The inner strength, grace, and humor he shared during his long illness was cherished by all who loved him. We thank Franciscan Hospice for their support. A memorial Mass in his honor will be held at St. Nicholas Church in Gig Harbor on Friday, Feb. 11th, 2011 at 11:00 am. Remembrances may be made to Franciscan Hospice Health Care or the St Vincent De Paul Society c/o St. Nicholas Church.
