EILEEN WATERBURY Obituary

Eileen Waterbury Passed into a blessed eternity Jan. 27 at the young age of 95. Born in Rochester, NY Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 1915, to parents Frances Tarelton Smith, originally from Ireland, and Dorothy Edna Smith both of Rochester. After graduating high school she worked in a small stock and bond office and as a waitress in the Elks Club. In 1950 a family trip brought them to Puyallup to visit her father, a farmer in the valley. Eileen and husband Olin were so impressed with the area they never returned to live in New York. Eileen served on the early YMCA board and PTA, spent 7 years on the board at Good Samaritan Hospital, was church secretary at the First Baptist Church in town where she was a longtime member, worked 42 years at the Western WA Fair, retiring in 1992, continuing to work in the summers until 1997, covering 46 fairs. She loved sewing, reading, oil painting, crafts, travel, fishing, and the ocean. Preceded in death by husband Olin of 51 years, adopted son Phillip, and sister Marge Tibero. Leaves daughter Valerie Ann Book (Ron), sister-in-law Audrey Drury (Lee), granddaughters Renee Long (Alex), Vicki O'Keefe (Dave), Laura Coyne (Larry), 7 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren, nieces Nancy Davis of AZ and Cheri Dye of VA. Memorial celebration Sat., Feb. 19th, 2011 at 3pm, First Baptist Church, Puyallup. Donations may be sent to the church at 1219 15th St. NW, Puyallup, WA 98371.
