Floyd Brazile Obituary

Floyd James Brazile Floyd Brazile, LTC USAF RET, 83, of Tacoma, died July 21, 2011 after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Oklahoma. Floyd was a photo recon/bombardier navigator in the USAF, retiring as Lt. Colonel in 1973. Floyd taught ROTC at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio for five years, before the second of two assignments to Vietnam and subsequent assignment to the 4th Squadron at McChord AFB. Upon retiring from active duty, he began the JROTC program at Washington High School in Tacoma. He was a full-time elder at Lakeview Church of Christ, where he was a member for over 40 years. Floyd is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Ann, and his five children, David (Joyce), Dana (George) Gardner, Ruth (Scott) Shields, Ken (Andi), and Keith (Lisa). Also survived by his brother Donald, and sisters Betty Jo, Barbara Ann, Mary Catherine and Ellen. Floyd was the grandfather of Melissa (Simeon) Montgomery, Darin (Melissa), Kevin and Randy, Stephanie and Brian Shields, Tyler and Michael, Robert and Tommie, and great-grandfather to Mercedes, Kenadee, Karli and Grady. Floyd will be remembered as a loving husband and father, an honored veteran, but most importantly as a faithful servant of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Floyd will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Lakeview Church of Christ, 1709 112th Street South, Tacoma, WA. Donations in honor of Floyd can be made to the Delano Bay Christian Camp through the Lakeview Church of Christ.

Mr. Brazile was a wonderful role model for his family. I see so much of his values in my sister in-law and her brothers. He will be sorely missed.
