GEORGE STEIMLE Obituary

George W. Steimle Age 72 passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 1, 2011 with his family by his side at Madigan Army Medical Center following an illness. George was the son of the late George and Helen Steimle. He was raised in Freeport, IL and graduated from Freeport High School in 1956. In July 1956 he joined the United States Air Force and served the country for 26 years with tours in Morocco, Philippines, Vietnam, Korea, Turkey and spent time state side in Washington, Mississippi, Michigan, New York, Colorado, and Hawaii. In 1982 he retired from the Air Force and settled his family in Puyallup, WA, where he began the next phase of his career working in the Information Technology sector where he worked for Seafirst Bank, Info-Tech, Group Health, and Univar before retiring in 1999. George was an avid outdoorsman that fell in love with the beauty of the Northwest. He spent most weekends going to Cannon Beach, Westport, Hood Canal, Moclips, Mt. Rainier, and Eastern Washington, enjoying all that these places had to offer. He was also a strong supporter of the Tacoma Rescue Mission. Donations to the Tacoma Rescue Mission are encouraged in George's name. Surviving are his wife, Doris Steimle of Parkland, WA; 3 sisters, Francis Stanford of Cayuga, NY, Barbara Phillips of Freeport, IL, and Kay Klecker (Kelly) of Phoenix, AZ; two sons, Charles Steimle (Val) of Tacoma, WA and John Steimle (Connie) of Edgewood, WA; and two daughters, Debbie Berry (Steve) of Crystal Spings, MS and Diane Miley of Jackson, MS; ten grandchildren and one great-grandson. There will be a memorial service Feb. 7, 2011 at Weeks' Dryer Mortuary located at 134th Street and Pacific Avenue, Parkland, WA at 12 PM followed by a graveside service at Mt. Tahoma National Cemetery at 2:15pm.
