Helen Spencer Obituary

Helen Rachele Spencer Helen Rachele Spencer was born on May 4, 1914 in Black Diamond, WA., the first child of martin and Angelina Guerrini. She grew up in Kangley, WA, on a farm that was a source of treasured memories throughout her life. Helen married Richard Spencer in 1935 and the couple settled happily in Sumner, where they raised their daughter, Arlene Eleanor and son, Richard Michael. In the mid-1950's, Helen and Richard become part of a tightly-knit group who took trailer trips throughout the western U.S. and Canada. Later, Helen and Richard took their trailer to Mexico, visiting the beaches along the Sea of Cortez and venturing as far south as Guadalajara. In the 1970's, Helen and her brother Bill traveled to Italy to visit their cousins, and stories of their travels have inspired many family members since then to travel to (or from) Italy to reconnect with kin. Helen died peacefully in her sleep on May 20, 2011 in the beautiful home that she created with her husband and had lived in for six decades. She is survived by her daughter Arlene (Ken) Hatch of Edgewood, son Richard (Jan) Spencer of Richland, brother Bill Guerrini of Kangley, sister Joyce Hohensinner of Puyallup, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Spencer. A graveside service will be held at 11am, Wed., May 25 at Summer City Cemetery.

Arlene and Dick, I'm so sorry about the passing of your mom. She was always so cute and smiley. I know my mom enjoyed her too. Amazing the Lewis Ave. corner won't have her there any more.
