Max & Dillon... Brother Hugh would have been so proud of the two of you yesterday, I was. Your thoughts, stories and songs were so beautifully shared that his presence was definitely felt. Find peace that he is in a much better place and model his love for life as you both now head out on your own great adventures.

Hugh's Memorial was truly a family affair. It was very special to everybody. Dillon and Max your Dad would be very proud. People came from near and far and you guys made it all happen. Great tribute to who your dad really was and what he gave to all of us. He will be missed but we will always have the memories. Like Uncle Paul said very well, Hughie always lived in the moment and we all need to do a better job of that.
Love you Guys

Dear Beth,Dillon and Max,
I am going to be politically correct as the last one did not make it through the filter.
Hugh, the half back, wrestler, track star, crack golfer, fight breaker upper, hunter, biker, runner, water skier, off the wall humorist, esperpentic pranster, extreme sportsman, fearless leader and trail blazing explorer...Active...not at all sendentary...a father and husband who loved by,of and from freedom...The forever young and unrepressed kid...a void has been created.
Take care of God by keeping him humored as we will try to do the same on this end of it with Beth,Dillon and Max.
We can't cry cause your perspective of life only foresaw laughing tears.
Stories will be swapped such as the BB playoff game at PLU in 67 to go to State between Bellarmine and Lincoln.
You have left an indelible mark...Thanks.

Beth, Dillon, Max, Emily, Char, and all of your extended families,
I will always remember Hughie as Char's handsome, athletic older brother from grade & high school, not the one who teased us (that was Tommy), but the one who traveled through life with a smile on his face (except when playing football) and Beth always by his side. May your memories of him be sweet and peaceful.

Dear Beth,Dillon,Max:
The photo is spot on, particularly since Hugh never really seemed to change much. He was always ready as Zorba or Thunder to romp and wrestle He never seemed to worry about tomorrow like the rest of us. We have all learned something from him and are blessed to have known and loved him.

I am so sorry for your loss. The way your whole family pulled together to support Hugh was inspiring to me. I feel blessed to have known all of you. Hugh was clearly a very special person. And, he leaves a wonderful legacy in Max and Dillon. Beth you are so gracious and lovely; my prayer for you is that you find peace in the wonderful memories of your life with Hugh.

Hughie Larkin. The mention of his name stirs so many memories and emotions. A big brother to Kelly and a big brother to me too at times, even though I was not an official Larkin. He was always looking out for us and making sure we were not into too much mischief. I looked up to Hughie not because he was every grade-school girls mad crush, but because he was a genuine and caring person. The term "Million Dollar Smile" has been used for years, but I think Hughie's ear to ear grin went way beyond that. Thanks for all your gave us, you will be remembered with love and tenderness. CH

To Beth and the extended family of Lakins from Tacoma:
I was a few years older than Hugh but knew him well. His older brother Pat and I were classmates at Bellarmine. When Hugh started his Physician practice on North I street in Tacoma, I went to him for a Physical and we had a good talk about growing up in Tacoma. My prayers are with you at this time of great loss of a life that ended too soon.
I'll get back at you!

To Queen Bee, Consigliere, Maximilian,
Hughie/Dr. Who,
It all started in the first grade at the reformatory we called St Paddy's; that would have been Sister Cornelius' room. Hugh, my dearest friend for all these years, as I wipe my tears away I start to smile as I remember all our stories. They will keep me going the rest of my life. Beth, you've exemplified the wedding vow "in sickness and in health".

Beth,
Although I only knew Hugh for a couple of years as a young man at Bellarmine, I remember Hugh as a class act. It is clear that he leaves a legacy of humor, generosity, and a love of adventure. It is sad to see his life cut short, but he apparently wasted little time while he was here. I hope that during this difficult time that you and your family will rejoice in the life he lived...loved...and shared with you.

To the whole Larkin Family,
May God sleep on your pillow, May He hold you in the hollow of His hand, May the roads rise with you, Fair weather at your heels, May the wind forever be at your back. . ., And may you be a long time in heaven before the devil knows you're gone...
Thinking of you in your time of sorrow.

Dear Beth, Dillon & Max,
You are in my thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time. I hope you can find comfort in the many wonderful memories you have of your life with Hugh. He was so full of life, laughter and a little mischief until this terrible disease took him away. Find joy knowing that he is singing 'Jonny Be Good' to his hearts content!

Will never forget Hugh - his infectious smile, playful personality- somehow he always knew what to say to relieve tension before our track and field events. I also remember how he routinely kicked my butt in the 400 - all that talent and zest for life- that is how I remember Hugh.
On the road.

To family and friends;
Life reminds us there are individuals who cross our paths whose unique characteristics give us some special perspective and joy. That certainly was my experience with Hugh. His untimely passing admonishes us to cherish those who lend creativity, intelligence and compassion to this challenging world. His legacy is secure with a family thusly endowed. It was a privilege to know him...

To Hugh's Family & Friends,
Hugh was one of a kind and there shall never be another one like him. I have many fond memories of Hugh, Tom, Steve, George and the gang playing our Sunday golf matches at the Gig Harbor Golf Club. A lot of laughs and good times were had by all. May Hugh rest in eternal peace, and may warm memories of him bring you peace, joy and laughter in the weeks and months ahead!

There are no words to express the love and admiration I have in my heart for Uncle Hugh. Not only was he vibrant, joyful and lighthearted; but dedicated sincere and brilliant. The love he has for you three has been inspiring to witness throughout my life. I am so grateful for every moment I was blessed to be with him; but am comforted knowing he lives on in all of us. Dear Beth, Dillon and Max,
I have just read the beautiful obituary on your dear precious Hughie.
It brought tears to my eyes, looking at his handsome face with his bright, happy smile. I know your hearts are breaking as you miss him so deeply. He will be forever watching over and caring for you in ways we cannot even begin to comprehend. He has not gone! He has passed into his new and glorious life and has received his new body, and his new andeven more powerful, heavenly spirit. The sunshine from his smile will radiate down upon each of you, and the rays of love from his soul will keep him as near as his earthly embrace. You were his life, his loves and you will eternally be together again someday in the beautiful mansion he has prepared for you. He will continue to be proud of all you accomplish in his name and in the name of our Lord and Creator. Hughie has given you a legacy of exceptional gifts and has blessed your lives and the lives of others in countless ways. I know your journey here on this earth will continue to be
filled with his constant care, protection and love. Until you each are together with Hughie in your heavenly home, don't forget to talk to him. He will especially love a new joke here and there. Remember he is still around! Of course, he is also is in the presence of many Angels who will help give you strength until you wrap your arms around Hughie again and
hold his hand forever in eternity !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
