JANET DONOVAN Obituary

Janet Marie Donovan Surrounded by her family and loved ones, Janet Marie (Juza) Donovan passed away December 30th, 2010. She was an adventurer, entrepreneur, and avid bridge player. She was born in Iowa in 1938, the oldest child of 10. At the age of 19, she and her sister left for St. Paul, Minnesota, where she met and married her husband of 50 years, Daniel Patrick Donovan. In 1975, after several years in St. Paul, Minnesota and Billings, Montana, she, her husband, and three children settled in Lakewood, Washington. She, with the help of dear friend William Jackson (wife Carleen), started her own business, Video Recounters Ltd., in Tacoma in 1982. She was a force in the community. Along with many other contributions, she spearheaded the action to hang flower baskets which, in the spring and summer, still hang along Pacific Avenue downtown. She belonged to several organizations, including Lakewood Women in Business, Executive Women International, and Toastmasters International where she achieved Gold status. She played contract bridge for almost 50 years. She had many favorite partners, and with them she was able to acquire the "Life Master" level in 2008, the ultimate achievement for an amateur bridge player. She is survived by her loving husband Daniel, sons Joseph Daniel (wife Jill) and Peter Gregory, and her daughter Rita Ann Donovan. She is also survived by her much beloved 3 sisters, Patty Melluish, Veronica Kabrick, and Mary Ott, along with her 5 brothers, George Juza, Jimmy Juza, Bobby Juza, Tom Juza and Michael Juza. Remembrances can be made to Franciscan Hospice. Online condolences can be left at www.edwardsmemorial.com . A memorial service will be held at St. John Bosco 10508 112th St. S.W. Lakewood - 98498 on February 5th 2011 at 11:00 AM.

I am sorry to hear of Janet's passing. I visited her several times at Video Recounters with a box of pictures and being technologically inept I asked her for help to create special memories for milestone birthdays and 50th wedding anniversary for our parents. With very little direction she created beautiful videos with music woven in perfectly that are cherished family keepsakes.
We are thankful her artistic talents touched our lives forever.

Janet was truly a unique and talented individual. She was definitely a one in a million person and someone who made a difference to others. I am both sad and shocked to hear of her passing. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. May she rest in eternal peace.
