JANET SCANLON

Janet M. Scanlon Our beloved Mother passed away January 24, 2011 in Tacoma. She was born November 29, 1931 in Fargo, ND to parents Leslie McLaren and Clara Deegan. She was a 1949 graduate of Cleveland HS in Seattle. Janet retired from Boeing and worked as a technical aide in the engineering dept. Janet was creative, artistic and loved to have fun. Gardening, sewing, painting and drawing were favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed collecting green glass and Belleek pieces. She loved being Irish and enjoyed every moment of her trip to Ireland. But most of all she cherished being our Mother. Janet is survived by her brother Gerald (Anne) McLaren, her sons Jeffrey, Jay and James Scanlon, daughter Julie (Steve) Thomas, nephew Curt McLaren, and niece Vickie (Mike) Ladines. Also survived by granddaughter Summer (Dave) Alexander, grandsons Daniel and Kyle Scanlon, and great-grandchildren Kai and Kelsey Alexander. Janet was predeceased by her husband Robert J Scanlon and great-grandson Tyler Scanlon-Dodge. A celebration of Janet's life will take place on Sat. Feb 5th, from 12 to 4pm at the Tacoma Nature Center, 1919 S Tyler St in Tacoma. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Seattle. Donations may be made in Janet's honor to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
