JEAN ROBISON

Jean L. Hoover Robison A celebration of the life of Jean Louise Robison, 92, of Gig Harbor was held Sunday, March 20 at The Lodge at Mallards Landing in Gig Harbor. She died Wednesday, March 16, at St. Anthony Hospital after a brief illness. Born November 30, 1918 in Brighton, Iowa, to Glenn and Myra Hoover, she married Charles Robison on May 27, 1935. She and her husband raised four daughters in Washington, Iowa, where she also bred and raised riding horses, planned and built a popular housing development and was the city's first female real estate agent. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Washington Golf and Country Club and was active in Campfire Girls, Fortnightly and PTA. When her children were grown she managed several large apartment complexes in Phoenix, Arizona. After her retirement she lived in several communities where her daughters resided B including Ames, Iowa; Kingwood, Texas, and, for the last 12 years, Gig Harbor. Known to her family and friends for her personal strength, sense of humor and head-on approach to life, she maintained a lifelong interest in people, current affairs and politics. She was a skilled bridge player, an avid sports fan and a great animal lover. Above all, she loved her family and was affectionately known to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as Mama Jean. Ms. Robison was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Rogge, an infant son, an infant great-grandson, three brothers, two sisters and her former husband. She is survived by her companion of the past eight years, Mickey Donnan of Gig Harbor; three daughters, Sandra (Frank) Kos of The Woodlands, Texas, and Pamela (Robert) Krotz and Patricia Robison, both of Gig Harbor; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a brother, Robert Hoover of Missouri.
