It is quite amazing to have an uncle live to be 98 years old. I have great memories of Uncle Everett and dad arguing over who grandma liked best and who got the best home made rolls hot out of her oven. I hope that I thanked him for the tent camping trip to Sun Lakes where he, early one morning killed a rattle snake by the kid's tent. Also, what a thrill it was riding in the back seat while he drove home. Amazing!!! I am appreciative to him for trying to help me with algebra back in high school. He knew his math. For a young boy who quit school he made a fine life for himself and his family.

Grandpa was not known for his patience and understanding. He would not hesitate to tell you when he thought you were screwing up - whether that be playing the wrong card, choosing the wrong political candidate, or taking yourself too seriously. As he aged, his impatience diminished somewhat. Strangely, I missed this about him.
Grandpa, regardless of your gruff demeanor, you didn't fool me. I remember you making sure that your broke granddaughter got a decent lunch when Grandma was not there to see to it. Thank you.
Grandma, Dad, Steve, and Mark, I know you will miss him the most. I'm pretty sure he has saved you a spot although he might yell at you once you get there. ;-) And Max-A-Million is definitely there. It just makes sense. That dog was not only his partner in crime on hunting, fishing, and clam digging expeditions, but at work as well.

John, Steve, and family.
Sorry for the loss of your father, who I knew quite well from the Elks Club. He was quite the effervescent, and quintessential card player, and generally lots of fun. Anyway, my condolences. I'm in Arizona for 4 months, and won't return until about early May. Therefore I can't make the celebration. Hope you guys and your family are doing well.
