Louise Howard Obituary

Louise Elizabeth (Boster) Howard Mom's soul found peace on April 19, 2011. Born to Charles and Pearl (Swanson) Boster on June 12, 1921 at home in Kirksville, Missouri; at the age of eleven moved with her family to Orting, Washington. She left school in her senior year to pursue employment. She married Terry J. Howard in 1945 and lived in Seattle before moving to Ketchikan, Alaska with their young son Terry. While in Ketchikan two more children joined the family, a son, Bill, and only daughter Barbara. As our father was a logger, we moved back to Orting to pursue his vocation. We settled in Puyallup as a base for our family and were joined by two more sons, Fred and Steven. We later moved to the last working logging camp in the United States, Camp Grisdale in the Olympic Mountains. After an accident made it impossible to remain logging, we moved to Puyallup. After Dad's death in 1965, Mom went back to school to obtain a GED while working at the Poodle Dog Restaurant in Fife. With her diploma in hand she applied at Boeing and retired from there in 1982. In her retirement she provided a home and care for her son Bill, who suffered from cerebral palsy until his death. She had lived at Linden Grove Convalescent Center since falling and breaking her hip. She was preceded in death by husband Terry and son Bill, as well as two older brothers and four sisters. She is survived by son Terry (Karlene) Howard, Fred (Joelle) Howard, and Steven Howard, daughter Barbara (James) Vorderbrueggen, sisters Betty Allison and Ruby (Wayne) Shadle, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Wed., April 27, 2011, 11am, at Hill Funeral Home in Puyallup, 253-845-1172.
