I may have my dates a little mixed up, but if I remember correctly Mae and Bert were neighbors of my parents, Gale and Vivian Haner in Snoqualmie in 1939, the year I was born. In fact they may have lived in a house where one family occupied the upstairs and the other the bottom floor. Whatever the situation, I know that they became long time friends living in the south end of Tacoma some years later. I remember visiting their house on "A" St. where Mae, Bert , Paula, Steve and Doug lived. My parents passed away in 2002 and 2007, my brothers Ron and Denny still live in the Tacoma area and I know that they also visited the Burmans from time to time after we moved to the south end in the summer of 1953. My wife Sharon (who had met Mae and Bert in 1964) and I wanted to express our condolences and wish all the family members the very best. When we saw the obituary in the TNT we started talking about the memories and knew that if my folks were still alive they would be calling to remind us of the good old days and the long friendship that they had with Mae and Bert.
