One of the most memorable friendships in my life. Marisa and I met in undergrad at `SC and became close friends in Pharmacy School. We shared an apartment on Magnolia street in South Pas during our last year. She had an unmatched energy, a solid work ethic, and brutal honesty. She had enough self realization at twenty something that life is short and the time to live, love, and laugh was now not later.

After graduation we had a falling out when Marisa decided it was time to get on with life, get a job, move out to the beach, start a family. I was on a different wavelength and our lives never crossed paths professionally or socially again.

Last month I received a notice of a Tom Petty estate sale and thought Marisa would be all over this.

People like Marisa have a way of living on like stars. You know they´re gone. But their presence keep shining.

I'm so very sorry to learn of your passing years later, 2018. We were close buddies at Kaiser Panorama City. I didn't have a clue that you were seriously ill back then. I hope that your life was mostly happy despite it being so short. Thanks for all the laughs at work. I would have wanted to see you again way before your premature departure. May you have more happiness wherever you are now.

Cousin Marisa, You continue to be in our thoughts. I think of you every time I sing or hear Wildflowers by Tom Petty (One of Marisa´s favorite songs...).

Many times over the years I have sat down at the computer to try to find a way to reconnect with Marisa. Interesting that it wasn't until my try tonight that I finally found her, and then to see the sad news of her passing. She and I were college roommates at USC in 1987-1988. I loved living with Marisa! She was an inspiration to me in our college journey together. I wish I had been able to find her and connect with her before this. To her son Zach, I want you to know that Marissa was one of the reasons that I eventually went to pharmacy school myself. Your mom was a true inspiration to me and many others!

I had the pleasure of working with Marisa and just found out of her passing. A smile is on my face remembering her with her camera, wanting something to drink, but asked us what we wanted, her laugh, energy, positive uplifting attitude, and honesty just to name a few. Her interaction with others was of caring, always taking as much time to help you with your questions as needed. She was a beautiful person on the inside as well as out.
I am truly sorry that she is gone from the world, but can imagine her being with her loved ones one way or another and trying to still comfort them in their mourning of her because she was larger than life. Good bye Mars, thanks for coming into my life and blessing me with my special memories of you, your one special lady.

Dear Zac, know your mom loved you and cared so much for you. Stay strong and focused in life and school. She aways talked about you going to College UCLA. Your mother was the most giving person I have ever meet. She really had a kind heart and so much fun to hang out with. She will always be missed. Rodger thank you for having Abby and myself over. The food and ice cream with blue berry's was the best. Stay strong and healthy for ZAC. Im sure he has lots of questions. Take care Marisa

Marisa was a wonderful, vibrant, happy person. I have fond memories of her and I and the sleepovers we use to have listening to her favorite music artist, "Tom Petty". She was always positive and fun to be around. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. I wish her family my deepest sympathy. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Zach & Roger,
Marisa was a dear friend of mine. When I stayed with her this past summer, I was there to try and help her get better. I'm sorry if I let you down. I really did try.
She is the most giving person I have ever met. She lived to give. Her passion to help others and to make others feel better was unconditional. I just wish I could have helped 'her' feel better. We connected on many levels. I will miss her dearly.
Marisa and I didn't always get along, but that's what happens when you care about someone so deeply. I will always have a special place in my heart for her [as well as my son, Sean, my daughter, Erin both of Puyallup and my mother, Barbara Gill of Port Orchard].
May she rest in peace and take time to listen to the Wildflowers {Tom Petty}.
I will remember you always. I will miss you always.
Take care Zach. Walk well Roger.

I am still so shocked and saddened to hear about Marisa's passing. She was truly a beautiful "wildflower" blessed with a deep passion for life, which was evident way back in our 4th-6th grade years that we shared together. I always thought there was more time to catch up and was thrilled to see her 2 years ago with as much joy and spark as I remembered. I wish her peace in heaven and solace to dad Roger, brother Ryan and son Zach. She is greatly missed.

We will always remember cousin Marisa as intelligent and sensitive, with a beautiful smile. As our 2nd youngest cousin, Marisa was especially loved by the Kwong Family. We were so honored to have you in our wedding party as our flower girl. And Ryan managed to get into the wedding album along with you by catching the garter. We have very fond memories of you! We will miss you. Our love and thoughts go to Uncle Roger, Cousin Ryan, Dina & the kids, as well as Zachary. Marisa was special to us. With love, Marian and Craig Tang

Marisa had a spirit that was completely full of life and light. That light burned so brightly, and she brought many people happiness with her vivacious personality during her lifetime. She will be missed, but never forgotten. Dr. Lee, Ryan and Zachary, you have my deepest sympathies. Take comfort in knowing Marisa is no longer in pain and is at peace now, and her spirit will be watching over Zachary.

I had not seen Marisa for approximately 5 years. I thought of her everyday, I just thought we had time to re-connect later. I am stunned and stopped mid- flight by the news of her. Marisa you were so much fun, and so dear to me. I thought someday we would bump into each other and pick up right where we left off. I am sooo very sorry for all the missed time. I am aware of how much she loved her father. May God bless you Dr. Lee with peace and a beautiful life with your grandchildren.
