MARTIN LIND Obituary

Martin Frederick Lind Aug. 30, 1949 ~ March 1, 2011 Martin (Marty) Frederick Lind was born at Madigan General Hospital on August 30, 1949. He went to be with his dad Ret. CSM Henry Lind in Heaven on March 1, 2011. He attended grammar school in Modesto, CA, Okinawa and Dupont, WA. He graduated from Lakes High School, Evergreen State College and earned a Master's Degree from Whitman College in Spokane, WA. He attended OCS training at Fort Sill, OK and returned to Fort Lewis, WA to finish his military tour. Marty taught at Olympic College in Bremerton, WA, Pierce College, Tacoma, WA and was also a Grant Writer for the Nisqually Indian Tribe in his early career. He moved to Moses Lake, WA where he was employed by the Carnation Company and then to Nestle companies corporate office in Glendale, CA as a corporate Psychologist. His next venture was with Wellpoint at their corporate offices in Southern California. His last job would be with Blue Cross Blue Shield of California where he resided in San Francisco, CA. Marty returned to his beloved Northwest in December 2010 planning to build his dream home on Hood Canal overlooking the Olympic Mountains that he loved. He was an exotic traveler having visited most of the 50 states, many countries of Europe, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Fiji, The Cook Islands, Turkey and the Caribbean Islands. His hobbies were art, photography, sailing, food, wine and cooking. His photography was world class and he enjoyed doing his own printing and framing. Marty is survived by his mother Dorothy Lind of Lakewood, Michael (Sherry) Lind of Puyallup, Cindy (Jay) Peterson of Lakewood, nieces Natalie Lind (Mike) Firestine, Angie Lind (Aaron) Null, Elizabeth Lind Peterson and nephews Brandon Lind Karlson and Jens Peterson, great niece Macie Firestine and great nephews Brayden Null and Riley Firestine and his extended family and fellow travelers Barney Rapp, David and Jo Hoffer and Kenny Sullivan. A celebration of Marty's life will be held the evening of March 19th. For information please call 253-584-1632 for details.
