MARVIN PEASE Obituary

Marvin L. Pease Marvin peacefully passed away in his sleep at home on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the age of 91. He was born in Bridgeport, Washington to Floyd and Emma Pease on December 1, 1919. He spent the first years of his life in the Methow Valley before the family moved to Puyallup, and finally settled in the McKinley Hill section of Tacoma, where Marv starred on the "Pee Wee" basketball team and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1938. After working several years at FS Harmon Mfg. Co., he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served in the 381st bomb group as a radio gunner in World War II. He completed 25 strategic and heroic missions over Germany and occupied countries of Europe. He then returned stateside, where he married the love of his life, Deloris, on June 16, 1944. They settled in Tacoma, where he spent the remainder of his life with Deloris, raising their two daughters. He returned to work at Harmon's until he had the opportunity to join Pease and Sons Inc., where he worked as a purchasing agent until his retirement in 1985. He was an avid sports fan his entire life, still following his favorite sports teams and golfers on the internet until his very last day! For many years he was an active bowler and avid golfer, only stopping because of failing health. He was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Elks, and he and Deloris loved to travel. They spent several years as "snowbirds" in Arizona, traveled the United States by car, and enjoyed cruising to many European and Caribbean ports. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Lionel, Kenneth, Marie, Leah and Donald. He was a faithful and loving family man, survived by his wife Deloris, affectionately known by him as his "beautiful blue-eyed doll," daughters Claudia (David) Pease of Tacoma and Marilyn (Frank) Gaffrey of Vancouver, and granddaughter Michelle (Tim) Paulsen Lake Tapps. He will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 5236 East "B" Street, Tacoma, Washington, at 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 31, 2011. Donations suggested to Alzheimer's Association.

My thoughts and prayers are with Marv's family.....my sympathies to you all. If my mom(Marcia Gjerstad-first cousin, deceased) were here, she would give her sympathies, as well. She thought the world of Marv and Grubby, and if she were here she would want them to know she was thinking of Grubby in her time of sorrow. May he rest in peace.
