MARY DAHL-SMITH

Mary Jane Dahl-Smith Mary, 56, began her new life on October 17, 2013. She was born in Grand Junction, Colorado on December 4, 1956, daughter of Margaret (Peggy) and Wilbur Dahl. Mary was a very lively and active community member. Whenever possible she would join organizations with the desire to do more than just simply be a member. She was an active member of the Tacoma Wheelman's Bicycle Club and a very active member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Of the latter Mary rose to the position of department president of the state of Washington. Mary was very patriotic and would not hesitate to welcome and help anyone who served the public or the nation. She was always very supportive of those in the military and their families as well as police officers and firemen. She has touched many, helped many and she will be greatly missed. Her love for the Denver Broncos, country, friends, and family especially grandchildren is unmistakable as well as her love for handheld games. Her parents; her brother, Buddy Dahl; her sisters, Bobby Fermo, Marilyn McClaskey, and Kathy Lowry preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Charles Smith; her sister Frani Kerr and her husband Gene; her brothers James Dahl and his wife Kim; Allan Dahl and his wife Tammy; her sons, Daniel Dahl and his wife Sharlina, Jeremy Smith and his wife Injoo, Christopher Smith and his wife Heather, Justin Smith; her daughters, Christina Adams, Michele Flores and her husband Steven, Jennifer Smith; and her grandchildren, Devin Dahl, Alexander Dahl, Frederick Smith, Ethan Smith, Kimberly Taylor, Kaden Schleif, Isabelle Flores, Nikita Flores, Gabriel Flores and one pending name to be determined. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013, at 12 noon at Christ Church Parish located on 310 N. K in Tacoma, WA with a reception to follow at 2 PM at the VFW Post hall located on 2000 Union Ave. in Tacoma, WA. Of her favorite activities cooking was the most loved by her and all those who enjoyed her meals. Therefore, the reception will be a potluck consisting of many of her favorite foods.
