May Hudson Obituary

May Hudson May Hudson, born March 27, 1914 in Thurber, Texas, was the daughter of an immigrant mother and father from Czechoslovakia. With true Texas bravado, May homesteaded in Wyoming on a plot of land which the family still owns, moved to Alliance, Nebraska, where she hunted, farmed, rode motorcycles, pumped gas at the local filling station, and, in real flapper style, helped run the family dance hall. She married her high school sweetheart Leonard Hudson, a hard-working railroad man, and moved to Tacoma, Washington, where they made their home and raised their daughter, Linda. May worked for Tacoma in the Tax and License Division until retirement, was an avid bowler, winning many trophies, enjoyed the friendship of the local Railroad Retirement group, and for many years helped in her church's and Red Cross's retirees lunch program. Folks there will remember her for her relentless saving of soda and beer cans, selling truckload after truckload and donating the proceeds to the lunch program. She often said she truly enjoyed the company and friendship of the "old folks" there, many of whom were younger than she was. May is dearly missed by her sister Lillian Ness, daughter Linda Hudson Leonard (Don Leonard), granddaughter Lisa Leonard Nickel (Brad Nickel), grandson Charlie Leonard (Martina), great-granddaughter Julia Nickel, and great-grandson Wesley Leonard. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in Mountain View Memorial Park. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
