I'm sorry that I'm writing this so long after Nigel's death but I only just discovered it occurred. I met Nigel at Crystal Mountain ski area in 1981 when he was very young and quite a character. We became friends and hung out together for a bit. His visa was about to expire and he was going to have to leave the country. I loaned him enough money to prove to the immigration department that he had enough to live on so that he could stay. They extended his visa then and it appears he was able to stay in the US for many years after that (and yes ... he paid the money back!) I don't know why I suddenly decided to see if I could find Nigel after all these years but I had a feeling he was no longer around. I am very sad for his family and friends ... I know he is the kind of person you can never really get over losing. My thoughts and prayers to you from a friend from long ago ...

I had the opportunity to care for Nigel during his final days. How charming he tried to be even when he was feeling his worst. Trying to add a little humor to a difficult situation. What a wonderful family and a great man. May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

I met Nigel a few times, but I never had the pleasure of getting to know him. I can only imagine what a wonderful person he must have been knowing that he raised my long time friend Curly. My condolences to the Bakewell family. I can only imagine how tough this has been for you all. Someone once told me the following which always has a way of warming my heart, "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." -Dr. Seuss

Jane, I was Karin Easterwood's friend, Sharon. I met you at her house when Shelley and the girls were there. I am so sorry about Nigel. I never met him but meeting you tells me he must have been a wonderful person. My thoughts are with you and your family at this very difficult time

I worked with Nigel in the car business for many years. He was an exceptionally honest and competent businessman. I especially enjoyed sharing stories of travel to other lands particularly his experiences in the Japanese auto industry. Nigel was an exceptional man and someone I will never forget. My condolences to his family. Miss you Nigey!

It was shocking to read of Nigel's "passing." I'll always remember his passion for life and his adventuresome spirit. He will be missed but his enthusiasm for life will not be forgotten and will be an inspiration for those who loved him so.
