NORMA FERRIS Obituary

Norma (Norris) Ferris Beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and sister, passed away peacefully on Feb. 9, 2011. She was preceded in death by husbands, (architect) Gordon Norris and USAF Colonel Donald Ferris; and brothers, Roy and Harvey Olsen. Norma was born Aug. 17, 1923, in Alameda, CA, where she lived until she was 12 and then moved with her family to Tacoma, WA, where she attended Mason Jr. High and graduated from Stadium High School, class of 1941. Norma had a wonderful life, blessed with family and many friends. She had coordinated several Stadium High Reunions, loved golf, Bridge, and summer gatherings on Henderson Bay. She worked for the WA State Transportation Dept. for 10 years, retiring in 1988. Following retirement, she and Col. Ferris wintered in Mesa, AZ for several years. Norma is survived by her brother, Stan (Phyllis) Olsen; daughter, Christine Yuckert; sons, Douglas, Craig, and Gordon Norris, Jr.; and granddaughters, Dagne (John) Furth, Claire Yuckert, and Linda Norris. The family wishes to thank the compassionate staff at Hearthside Manor and Multicare Hospice. At Norma's request, there will be no memorial service. A reception for family and friends to celebrate her life will be held on Feb. 27, 2011, at West Park Condo Clubhouse, 8002 52nd St. Ct W., University Place, WA, from 1-4pm. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
