PAMELA HAMBLY Obituary

Pamela Jean Hambly Passed away February 11 in the comfort of her home in Buckley, surrounded by her family. Born July 4, 1951 in Portland, OR, Pam was always a strong, caring, courageous woman who valued her family, friends and students above all else. During her long battle with cancer, that never changed. Pam was a well-respected teacher in the Puyallup School District for over 16 years. Besides her passion for teaching, Pam enjoyed many activities. At the top of the list, she loved gardening, reading, sewing, traveling, and could always be found listening to her favorite music no matter what she was doing. She was extremely creative and loved arts and crafts, especially with her children, grandchildren and students. Pam will be terribly missed by all whom she touched, especially her husband Jay of 39 years, daughter Julie, son Dave and wife Dawn, grandchildren Malayna, Clarisse and Tyler, parents Everett and Florence, and sister Patti and her son Colin. A memorial service to celebrate Pam's life will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011, 12:00 pm, at The Celebration Center, 13603 86th Ave E. Puyallup, WA, 98373, and will be immediately followed by a reception. Because of her strong passion for the Arts, donations will be accepted. Please make checks out to the "Pam Hambly Arts in Education Memorial Fund."

I had the privilege of having Pam be my mentor teacher during my student teaching at Riverside Elementary back in the fall of 1992. I could not have requested a better mentor! She was caring, had a fun personality, and was always willing to share her teaching expertise with me! The students adored her, as well as all the people that worked with her!

To the Hambly family~ I am deeply sorry for your loss. You will be in my thoughts and prayers during this sad time. Please know Pam touched the lives of many people (young and old) and will be missed!

Heaven has received an exceptional angel in Pam. I have many special memories of Pam which started when we taught together at Riverside Elementary. Pam was so fun to work with, always having a positive attitude and finding a way to make instruction fun and engaging. Pam is probably teaching a reading group right now!

Cherish your memories of a wonderful wife, mother, and person.
That is what will sustain and nurture you as life goes on.
You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
