Paul Prather Obituary

Paul Anthony Prather Better known as "Tony", born in Texarkana, TX November 30, 1973, died Saturday, May 14, 2011, in a traffic accident in Toutle, WA, his current residence. Son, grandson, husband, father, friend. He fit in many roles and put his heart into every one of them. Alarm technician, soldier, builder, artist, comedian, philosopher in his own right. He wore many hats and always wore them with style. Charming, funny, giving, loving, respectful, loyal, and kind. He was a man who put others first and had a way of making even the most insecure person feel cherished. Any faults that will be remembered will only serve to remind us of the fact that he was human. We hold him in our hearts -- cherished, adored, loved and now -- dearly missed. Tony is survived by parents John and Jane Prather of Little Rock, AR and Laraine and Dan Borden of Jackson, MS; wife Nadine and two beautiful daughters, Leanna and Kayli of Toutle, WA; grandmother Maurine Taylor of Perryville, AR; Uncle and Aunt Bart and Kathy Taylor of Nashville, TN; many loving friends, and his special dog Corona. Arrangements are by Hubbard Funeral Home in Castle Rock, WA. Donations can be made to the "Tony Prather Memorial Fund" at any Wells Fargo Bank.

Little things remind us of you. A picture, a song. Mike seems to remember so many things about working together. We miss you. I know Nae tries to put up a good face for us all. She hurts and misses you so very much. Someday, we will all be together, sitting around the campfire talking about stuff. You always had a topic of conversation. Well, the bottom line is you are missed and we love you.

I really do not know what to say, I did not know that this was up until grandma Laraine posted about it on facebook. He was the best dad that I could ever have (: I am sure he is looking down on me daily smiling. I miss him every day that goes by. It is crazy to think that it will have been two year this May that you have been gone.

I served in the Navy with Tony. We were on the Decommissioning crew of the USS El Paso. He was a great friend. We had adventures together with Jon Dixon and Dan Kernel. Whether to the Shenandoah Mountains, Washington D.C., camping in North Carolina on the eve of Easter, or simply going to Mt. Trashmore fly a kite, with Tony along, we were guaranteed to have fun.

I am sorry that we lost contact, and that I didn't find you again until you were gone. Thank you for the friendship we shared. You have always, and will always, be fondly remembered.

If any family members would like pictures of him from our adventures, feel free to contact me at [email protected]

Nadine,
I was so sorry to hear about your tragic loss. I never knew Tony, but from all the wonderful things said about him in the guest book, he must have been a really neat husband and dad. He looks like he was a really fun guy. I love his smile. May God comfort you and your families' heart. I love you.

Dear family: My heart aches for all of you. Even though I lost my husband 2 years ago to cancer, it isn't the same as for a young wife and mother. You will all be in my prayers. Carol Miller, Davenport, Fl.

Nadine,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know the shock, sorrow and emptiness you must feel. When 2 have become 1 and then 1 of those is gone, it is like a huge whole with only half of you left in the middle of things that you planned to share in a life that was not complete. There aren't many young widows--but there are too many. I hope you have plenty of support through the long and ever-changing journey ahead of you. If you ever need someone to talk to, contact me.

Laraine, I just saw on FB that you were packing up and heading back to AR, so I had to look further. We are so sorry to hear about this tragic accident and the loss of Tony. I think we may have met him while we were stationed in AR, but he would have been a little guy. We will keep you, Dan, Mrs. Taylor, Bart & Kathy and the extended family in our prayers. Love, Ken & Carolyn Troupe

Nae, yesterday as I sat behind you in the pew, all i could feel was the overwelming desire to get up and take ur pain from within your heart and heal you from the hurt. I am very very sorry for your loss. But was reminded last night on our way home deep in thought of a convorsation that Tony and I had sitting in your front yard just last summer.Tony was explaining to me his love for you and how precious you were to him. he said to me "she and I just get each other" I could see so much love oozing from his eyes that you could feel his heart pumping for YOU! so Always remember HE LOVES YOU MORE THAN WORDS CAN EXPLAIN! I love you and will always be grateful for the time you shared this wonderful dad husband and friend with us we are forever at a loss with out his presents.

Laraine, Dan, my heart is breaking for you and Tony's family. I know what this kind of loss is like, and while you never completely get over it, it does ease in time. All of us here are so sad and hurting for you. Laraine, I wish I could be there to hold and hug you. Keep your faith close because it will get you through, even when you feel like you won't .....I love you, Becky
