Paul Martin Obituary

Paul W. Martin February 28, 1923 to April 26, 2011 Paul has passed into a new life and new body to be with his Heavenly Father. Paul began life in Colorado Springs, Colorado and passed away in Kennewick, Washington at the age of 88. As a young boy, Paul migrated with his Mom and Dad and siblings to Tacoma, WA. He attended Sheridan Elementary, Gault Junior High and Lincoln High Schools. When WWII came along, he enlisted before graduation. Paul served honorably with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific Campaign. Paul and his beloved wife Jennie were married before he shipped out in 1943. Paul was a proud member of the Tacoma Fire Department serving 30 years from 1947 until his retirement in 1977. Paul had a gift of gab and never met someone he couldn't engage in conversation. Paul loved to lend a helping hand to anyone who asked, which kept him plenty busy. Paul and Jennie were married for nearly 68 years. Together they spent the later years of life in Hermiston, OR where they loved the warm sunshine and to pick the abundance of fruit and vegetables from their yard and garden. Paul is survived by his wife Jennie, son Jack and wife Suzanne, son Dennis and wife Diane, daughter Paula Otzenberger and husband Steve, David and wife Shanna. Paul and Jennie have 7 grandchildren: Kristel Freitas and husband Jeff, Eric Otzenberger, Erin Covert and husband Kevin, Matthew, Michael and wife Rhonda, Alicia Jamie and husband Mark, Brittany Holloway and husband Kane, and eight great grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Jessie, Jared, Seth, Jonah, Emmeline, Emma, and Grace. Paul is also survived by his sister Naomi Wilson and brother Jerald II and wife Faye. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Dora and Jerald, one sister Mary Wilson and his brother Bill. Services will be held at Richland Rehabilitation Center, 1745 Pike Ave., Richland, WA 99354 on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. Contributions may be made in Paul's name to Hospice at the Chaplaincy (www.tricitieschaplaincy.org). A special thanks to Hospice at the Chaplaincy in Kennewick for their passion, care, and family support in Paul's last days. So sorry to read of Paul's passing. He was one of God's angels here on earth. We so much appreciated his keeping in touch with all of us after dad's passing and for how he looked after dad's sister Margaret. Enjoyed so much our visits with Paul & Jennie.
