I think the day that I remember the most I was about 6. I had been spending the day with Grandma Ruth and took a bottle of black shoe polish and rubbed it onto the walls by the dining room table. she kept telling me to just wait until grandpa got home. grandpa came home, poured some tabasco sauce in his beer, sat down, and I never did get in trouble. and for some reason, I always remember the giant wooden fork and spoon hanging on the wall, and their big oil lamp hanging in the dining room.

I remember that car lot! I used to sit in one of those 'hot rods' and pretend that I was a racecar driver (complete with my own home-made sound effects!) I'm sure I was only 5 or so...what great memories!

One of my memories is the little dogs grandpa always had. Feisty and Teddy were two of them to name a few. He enjoyed sitting with them in his recliner always telling them he was going to bite his ear...

Robert and his grandson, Luke enjoying potluck dinner. May 2011.
