Robert C. (Bob) Welch February 7, 1924 - June 16, 2013 Robert was born on February 7, 1924 in Waterloo, Iowa. He passed away at the age of 89 at the Veterans Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Bob served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a pilot in the European Theater and Normandy, France invasion. He owned and managed a wholesale toy business, The Stack Company, in Portland. In 1974, he married Patsy Russell, and after his retirement, they worked together at her business, Jantzen Beach Bowl. They retired to Arizona and enjoyed many years traveling around the United States, Canada and Mexico in their RV, collecting friends and memories along the way. Bob loved boating, fishing, hunting, bowling, touring, cruising and golf, and was an avid square and round dancer. He was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, always offering support, encouragement and a smile. Bob was preceded in death by his son, Captain Patrick Welch, and brother Jerry Welch. He is survived by Patsy, and his children Sharon Markholt, Robbie Rennie, Barbee Booth, Steven Welch, and Jodi Maestretti, stepchildren Elaine Lemmer, Genie Glass, and Connie Kleck, sisters Betty Vergine and Shirley West, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in the Mountain View Garden Chapel in Lakewood, Washington July 13, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Legion, www.legion.org/donation, 800-433-3318.
