My mother worked with Ron as an academic advisor at the University of Oregon. I got to meet him and he was extremely nice to me, and my mother thought he was great. Sorry to hear he passed so young.

I am as sorry to have heard of Ron's passing a dozen years post occurrence as I am to have found out he passed away so young. We played together at Whitworth while he was there and one of my fondest Collegiate Basketball memories was of the 1984 Spokane Showdown between Gonzaga & Whitworth where (once Ron & I were put into the game together, early in the second half) we turned an 8 point Zags Lead into a 6 point Bucs (Pirates) lead in about 6-7 minutes (just the two of us.) We bottled up Stockton and doubled their big men every time they fed it into them. Both Ron & I blocked a couple of their shot attempts and when our guards brought the ball up (and it got to me) we played the 2-man game to perfection! I'd feed Ron in the post and he either scored or if my man fell in to help he'd send it back out to me & I'd either shoot & score or drive & score or get fouled. We were doing so well that our own Coach (a guy named Jim Larson) called time out because Gonzaga's coach (a guy named Dan Fitzgerald) was giving our coach "the stink eye" because it was understood "we were NOT to win this game" & that was that. We were sitting on the bench next to each other, toweling off drinking Gatorade & shaking our heads! Coach Fitzgerald wanted both of us (out of high school) & knew he wouldn't get Ron but thought for sure "he'd get me out of O'Dea." Especially since Stockton & I were roommates in the '80 City-State All-Stars games. But Ron went to Oregon & I wanted to go to the UW but after waiting for Denny Houston to get fired (for two years) after a year, I decided to accept the academic & athletic scholarship Whitworth offered me. Which is where Ron transferred to from Oregon. He was a good man and a good friend for the time we knew one another and got to be Friends. We roomed together on road trips a number of times and I wish we would have stayed close after college but you know how it is... It just wasn't to be I guess. I think he went home (the summer of '84) and went to live in Juneau, AK. where my (then) serious girlfriend was from, to get to know her family better during that summer as she did with my family, the following summer. So... again, I am sorry to hear of Ron's passing and can offer this in condolence. "No one who passes is truly gone, as long as there are people still here, who remember them and think of them (either often or every once in awhile) with fond memories and in kindness." Ron was certainly a good man and I know he will be missed. I thought of him when my wife & I were watching a movie Ron & I saw together with some other team mates "back in the day." Sincerely, Steve Stepan

Your memorial was amazing! Out of 50 multicolored balloons, one lone yellow one worked its way out of the bouquet and went straight to the ceiling. Your presence was truly felt. You would have been so proud. Thank you for leaving me Phyllis' spoons and the old family pics from Terri. I miss you RJB! I hope you know you are well loved. Farewell for now, Rainbow.

Ron, I new you as a little girl, as you lived next to some of my family members! I will always remember you & Russel shooting basketballs together and I used to say that I had wished that I was as tall you! Because you were so tall, I had also thought that you were way older than me. We grew up and I realized that you were just two years older than me! Life as child's perspective is amazing! Thank you for the gift of your friendship! You spoke so much life & positive words into so many lives! You WILL be missed, until WE meet again.....RIP
