ROSEMARY ENFIELD Obituary

Rosemary Enfield Dec. 7, 1929 - Mar. 19, 2011 Rosemary Ruth Enfield passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 19th, 2011 at the age of 81. For those who knew and loved her, it was far too soon. She lost the love of her life, Roger V. Enfield, on October 1st, 2010. Together for more than 63 years they built a life and a home full of laughter and love. Family was her greatest joy. Rosemary grew up in Tacoma as an only child dreaming of having a home filled with children. She married Roger in 1947, and they began to build their family. Over the years the family continued to grow. Even after the 12 children, 27 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, she would still say, "We need more babies." Rosemary was well-known throughout the Lakewood community for many things, especially her wonderful cookies. Trays would show up in doctor's offices, banks, hardware stores, real estate offices, and hairdressers. It was her way of showing appreciation to those who had been good to her and her family. "Rosemary's Catering" was more than just her business, it was an extension of family. Along with her daughters, grand and great, she presented tables of wonderful food for so many celebrations. She loved doing the "thinga-ma-digy with the dealy" Rosemary is survived by her 12 children, Don, Dick (Marcia), Kathy (Brian) Hegstad, Elaine (Rick) Waterman, Roger Jr., Mark (Lila), John, Paul (Pam), Linda (Mark) Hamlin, Tim (Starlene), Sherrill (Mark) Hadix, and Jenny (Jim) Lakose, her 27 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. She will also be dearly missed by her sisters and brothers, Gordon (Betsy) Klofstad, Wayne Klofstad, Janice Blair, Lucile Huckabee and Lois (Bob) McSkimming. The home was always open, and most days 20-30 people would walk through the doors. Everyone felt better for having been there and Mom always made them feel like they belonged. Each afternoon the house was filled with the laughter of children who always wanted to be at Grandma's house. Everyone felt loved and welcome and never went home hungry. Rosemary's legacy will live on through those that love her as we strive each day to live by the amazing example she set in her life. She will be forever missed by anyone that was touched by her love, patience and generosity. A mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 26th, 2011 at St. Frances Cabrini Church, followed with graveside service at Calvary Cemetery and a reception to follow at the Enfield home. Please join us to celebrate her life.

Whenever Rosemary came to the bank, she always brightened our day. It didn't matter whether she brought her world famous cookies to share with our staff and customers, or whether she just came in to do her banking and share a few of her special, precious moments with us. She left behind a legacy for her family and her friends which will go unmatached forever.

Growing up next door to all of you Enfields I felt very much a part of the family. So many memories, spending time playing, helping take care of the younger kids, cleaning, wrapping Christmas presents for hours on Christmas Eve, but most of all I remember Rosemary as my second mom. She watched out for Kai and me, listened to us when we were excited or sad. She gave us advise on life and loves we had. She truly cared for all who came through the front door and into the kitchen. Sitting on the stools around the kitchen counter was something we all treasured. And how about those hugs! You girls learned the art of hugging from your mom - keep it up!

Dearest, dearest Enfield family, I was so saddened when Mom called and told me of Rosemary's passing. What a beacon of light she (and Roger) were in my childhood and beyond. She is so missed, by my folks and by myself. Lakewood will never be the same for me.....Many hugs to you all. Wish I could be there for you all, but Mom and Dad will be representing us with love.....Jenny

I remember spending many a day at the Enfield's as a kid. My grandmother lived next door and every time I came to visit, I spent as much time there playing with Jenny as I did with her. Rosemary (and Roger) had a way of making everyone that passed through those doors feel like family. My deepest condolences to the family.

What a bright star in the community and I think when we look up at the heavens she will be the brightest star up there. Rosemary was just the warmest and most generous person I have ever known. She will be so missed by everyone who knew her.
