RUTH PHILLIPS Obituary

Ruth Ann Phillips Ruth Ann Phillips passed away peacefully at home in Tacoma, WA, on her birthday, February 18, 2011. She was 52 years old. Ruth was born on February 18, 1959 in Chandler, AZ, the third child to Joseph L. Howard and Shirley Rae Hammond. Ruth joined her brother, Joseph Lee Howard, and her sister, Sheryl Rae Howard. Ruth graduated from Granite Hills High School in 1978 in El Cajon, CA. At the age of 23, Ruth met her husband, Russell Phillips III, and they were married on December 23, 1983 in Chicago, IL. On November 28, 1984, Ruth gave birth to her first child, a daughter, Kimberly Ashley Phillips. Her second child was a boy, born on October 10, 1991, named Russell Phillips IV. Ruth embraced motherhood and loved her children with all of her heart. They are her pride and joy. Ruth had a very generous and open heart. Ruth would happily give her last dollar to any person in need and if she didn't have that to give, she would give her love. This was the hallmark of her character and anybody that knew Ruth came to love her. Ruth is preceded by her sister, Sheryl Rae Howard; father, Joseph L. Howard; her grandparents, Glen and Ruth Hammond; and uncle, Melvin Hammond. She is survived by her mother, Shirley Rae Bauer; brother, Joseph Lee Howard; and two children, Kimberly Ashley Phillips and Russell Phillips IV. The family would like to invite all those who would like to remember and celebrate Ruth's life to join them this Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 10 am at the Chambers Creek Chapel, 9221 Chambers Creek Road, University Place, WA 98467.
