SHEILA FINDLAY Obituary

Sheila Jane Findlay Age 80, of Puyallup passed away on June 29, 2016. Born on March 19, 1936, she grew up in Tacoma and graduated from Stadium H.S. in 1954. After high school she taught music lessons at her own studio, worked at the Bank of California, and eventually the County-City building in Tacoma where she met and married Robert E. (Bob) Findlay in 1965. They were married 38 years until Bob passed away in 2003. During that time they raised their two boys, Sean and Colin, in the home they built and she continued to live in for the rest of her life. She was the driving force behind many of the family outings and activities. She was the most devoted and loving mom, providing great opportunities and adventures for her children. Not content to just attend, she dove in with both feet and led or coordinated much of the organizations and clubs for their activities. She was also a master of many talents, many of which most people had no idea about. Mom was an incredible knitter and sewer, an accomplished sketch artist, and in her youth she played accordion on stage in roller skates. She was a dancer, skier, and competitive tennis player with a wicked slice; she impressed people all the time while downplaying her many talents. In her later years, she continued to enjoy outings with her tennis pals, Starbucks friends, class of 1954 Stadium lunch bunch, and Austen Healey tour group. She did more gardening and landscaping than someone in their 50's. But more than anything, Sheila was an animal lover, and her dogs and cats kept her constantly busy and on the move. She was a loving, spunky and caring person who was a devoted wife and the best mom ever. She is survived by her 2 sons and their wives, 4 grandchildren, 3 dogs and 3 cats, and extended family. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 13th at 12:30 pm at Gethsemane Cemetery (37600 Pacific Hwy S. Federal Way).

We were so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. We were the neighbors across the street that knew the boys as they grew up. We moved down the street but continued to to talk to your Mom as she walked her dogs in the neighborhood.

I will miss my Aunt so much. We didn't see each other as much as I would have liked, and it breaks my heart that she is gone. I loved her so much. She was such a driving force in keeping the Sundgren side together with lunches, etc. I will miss that.

You will be missed dear friend of 50years

July 10, 2016

To Sean, Colin, and family, I first met your mom when we were six years old and entering first grade at Sherman grade school.
I was a very shy child, but Sheila was so nice to me, she became my first childhood friend. None of us knew she could tap dance until as second graders, our class put on a show at St. Luke's Curch, and there she was in a " sailor" outfit.
On other occasions, she and your uncle, " Sonny " played the accordion together.
She's the person who urged me to go to the Stadium reunions and the monthly lunches, which now I never want to miss.
She loved your dad and you all so much, and her beloved " Aussies".
I will miss her very much.
