Sherrill Anderson Obituary

Sherrill Lynn Anderson We have lost an amazing person with Sherrill's unexpected death on April 13, 2011. Sherrill was born in Tacoma on June 26, 1951. Excepting for the 12 years of her adult life when she lived in Manteca, Ca., Tacoma was always Sherrill's home town. Loving, generous, a loyal employee and true friend, Sherrill's sense of humor and warm laughter were welcome at any gathering. In addition to loving her life roles as wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Sherrill felt a special bond with the many guests who enjoyed her cooking skills at the Tower Lanes and Restaurant. She proudly felt she was able to make many positive contributions to both the restaurant menu and the work environment. Sherrill was definitely a good cook, but baking cookies, especially for the Christmas season, became a passion. She simply loved having a wide variety of those treats to share with others. The special pleasure she found with her cats, Sammy followed by Cookie, gave testimony to her life long love of animals. Sherrill was an accomplished bowler, enjoyed trying her luck at various casinos and truly loved bingo, a game she played for fun as well as the opportunity to make new friends. Sherrill was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Hazel VanVolkinburgh and Edna Randall, and her sister, Sheila Agosto. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, George; her sons Robbie (Jill) Deblois and Dana K. Anderson; her sisters and brothers, Sandra Hill, Gale (Ken) Fry, Debbie Jo (Bryan) Johansen, Tom (Brenda) Randall, Joan Nardi, Jean (Rex) Tolstrup, Lois Timmons (Ralph Newell), Gerry (Mary) Bowlby, Wesley (Mary) Bowlby, Dennis (Annie) Bowlby, and Clayton Bowlby; her grandchildren Brock and Sierra, her uncle Bill (Esther) Kirk numerous nieces and nephews and three dear friends, Tony, Connie and Laurie. A celebration of Sherrill's life will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 2507 N. Vassault at 4:00pm, Saturday, April 23rd.

Tacoma has a big hole where your smiling face used to shine. You were always so cheerful and kind. And all those wonderful Christmas cookies were so yummy too. You will be greatly missed by family, friends and customers. Until we all meet again in heaven.

Such a wonderful woman and a good friend to my son Alex. My mother takes my son Alex to Tower Lanes every week for breakfast and he had a bond with Sherrill. She would always take care of him when he was there, even sending home cookies and goodies for him during the holidays. I really appreciated that she took the time, even for a four year old little boy to make a positive difference in his day. He looked forward to his visits every week. This past week when Alex was there he asked where she was... We explained it to him later and he was sad but says he can "still talk to her". Thank you Sherrill for sharing part of your week with Alex, you are missed.
