I went on my very first date with Tom to a concert in Seattle. I dont remember who we saw because I blacked out. Thanks Tom for my first introduction to Rum! His dad had A-1 and mine had U.P. appliance. Oh, the good ole days. My little sister who worked for years with my dad passed away of this same disease. Look for Alicia she is always good for a laugh. Tom was a great guy. A big bear with a gentle soul and a great sense of humor. I did not get to see Tom very much after leaving Washington, but we certainly had some laughs together in Junior High and High School, and we revisited those memories and laughed again at our 30th H.S. Reunion. Such charity and understanding in dealing with others. Rest in peace.

As is always the case, I am saddened to hear of the passing of a classmate whom I really wished I had stayed in touch after so many years. I will always remember watching Tom at the wrestling matches at CHS....you were a stud sir. It is nice to know that Tom will be free of pain and be with his family in heaven.

Tom was a Curtis classmate of mine, a distant friend who I was just speaking about with my brother. It was a shock to me when the email from other classmates shared the news. It saddened me that I didn't have a chance to say goodbye or spend some time with him before he left.
A Valiant Viking and a steadfast business man of University Place. He may not have been a millionaire, but he was one who kept the light on for the community. We'll miss you Tom; and, and as you know we always celebrate at our reunions those of our class who left before us. See you at the party!

Cousin Tommy, Randy and Annie. They say death is the very part of life that really matters...what life is all about. When you are born into this world, there are many people waiting anxiously for your arrival. And when you come into this world even those who were not awaiting you, embrace you, experience all that you add to their life and love you. I saw many of those people whose lives you touched come to help you into your next life and I know you enjoyed, appreciated and loved every moment on earth and every moment preparing for the next step, because you were not alone. You are well loved! I'll miss you, your warm smile and pleasing voice, that great chuckle. Those close to you are not alone and will be well taken care of, especially your brother Randy and that red headed Annie, whom you loved both so much. It's that time of year for planting in the garden and for outdoor fires in the fire pit. So glad spring waited for you. I'm so glad you dug in my garden and shared that nurturing part of yourself. Tell Stan and Auntie Eileen hello as you watch down on all of us.
Like the poem says, "A ship sails and I watch until he fades on the horizon and someone at my side says, 'He is gone.' Gone from my sight, that is all. He is just as large as when I saw him. The diminished size, the total loss of sight is in me, not in him. Just at the moment when someone at my side says, 'he is gone,' there are others who are watching him coming, and other voices take up a glad shout, 'There he comes!'- and that is dying." Love and miss you, cousin Tommy! See you on the other side.

A gentle soul,a big Teddy Bear,a great smile.Always had something positive to say, always there to help.EVERYONE knew Tom.I had the privilege since Jr.High School. He loved fishing, his "work of art" beautiful yard and country music.I'm looking in my yard at the daffodils we planted. They are "kings" in all their glory right now,how appropriate. It was a special time at Franciscan House,in his room,a circle of people who loved Tom, continuously surrounding him.He still had his humor. The picture posted of Tom speaks without words. What a smile! Will miss him with all my heart, but have treasured memories forever.

I was so shocked and saddened to see Tom's picture in the obits. He was such a kind and honest person, and we knew when we had problems with our appliances that he would do a great job, and charge honestly for what he did. There were times that he didn't want to charge us, but I would pay him anyway because I didn't want him to work for nothing. We will miss not calling him. Our prayers are with him and all his family.

Tom will alway's be infused into my memory and actions. I was alway's so amazed at, no matter what, how this "Gentle Giant" of a man carried him self through life. I could alway's feel this "presence" when ever around him. Calm, loving, understanding and alway's a smile!
Tom, you will be missed dearly by all of us whom had the good fortune to have been a part of you're life.
Rest easy my dear friend, I'll be fishing with you in my heart.

I hope this doesn't sound too weird, but for years i have collected original obituaries and put them in a scrapbook.
It's been a long time since i've found one stuck out in such a way that Thomas's did. (I first noticed it because he was born the same age as I am.) But then i started reading and kept reading. And i had my husband read it, and i called my brother on the phone to read it, and then i showed it to everyone at work.
And even though i always clean my dryer vent and did so last Saturday, I went and did it again today.
I am sorry for your loss, he sounds like a great guy. And while i hope nobody has to really do laundry in Heaven (why would it be Heaven if you have to do laundry?) but if you do when you get there, i hope Thomas can help fix all of our dryers for those of us who neglect that little known, but important task.

I was so sad to hear of Tom’s illness and passing. I went to high school with him. He was a kind and friendly soul and always smiling.
I have inserted a wrestling photo of Tom when he was a senior. I hope the image of his smiling face will bring back good memories.
Many of his classmates will be deeply saddened. He will remain forever in our hearts and memories.
My sincere condolences to the Hansen family.

Tom,
I had no idea you were ill and my heart is full of sadness that I was unable to support you during your illness.
I am so thankful for your many acts of kindness!
I can still see you smiling face as I write this note!
Peace be with you Tom!

Tom, I will miss your sense of humour and kindness. I will have to carry on your tradition of making chile rellanos for the holidays. You were a big kid at heart for sure. You left us way too soon! Your memory will live
on! It is so fitting that you left us on April Fool's Day!

To the Hansen family, I am so sorry for your loss. Tom was the Appliance Angel for me and I am guessing a lot of others as well. His phone triage service saved us both a lot of time (and for me, money) and he was just a fair and generous man. He will be missed by many and his kindness will resonate forever.
