Thomas Robinson Obituary

Thomas "Rob" Robinson IV Born on December 16, 1955; passed away peacefully on May 27th, 2011 surrounded by his loving family and friends. Rob was born and raised in Tacoma. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1974. Rob's love of baseball inspired him to work at Cheney Stadium at the age of 16, where he obtained a job as a hot dog vendor. From there he went to work at MC Delivery, where he was a dedicated employee for 34 years. He married Lori Urbauer in 1979, and they had two children, Sara and Matt. In 2004, Rob married his long-time friend Betsy McGuire. Rob enjoyed all sports. He was active in bowling and golf, but his first love was always baseball. Over the years he made wonderful, lasting friendships on the lanes at New Frontier and on the softball fields. Survived by loving wife Betsy, children Sara Tingley (Bryan) and Matt (Audheey), sister Karen Hazzard (Roger), brother Joel, niece Kim Hazzard, grandchildren Blayke and Berlyn Tingley, extended family, and many long-time friends. We would like to thank Eva and Stacy on 6C at St. Joseph Hospital for taking great care of Rob and the support they gave to the family. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Lorrin Yee, Dr. Peter Marsh, and Dr. Joe Wang for their compassion and kindness. Last but certainly not least, a BIG thank you to all of the friends, neighbors, and co-workers that have supported us with rides to appointments, grocery shopping, yard work, and encouraging words. A viewing will be held Friday, June 3rd from 3 to 8pm at Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor. A celebration of Rob's life will be held Saturday, June 4th, 2011 at 4pm at the Summit Club at Cheney Stadium. In honor of Rob, the family encourages casual baseball attire at the celebration of life service. At Rob's request, please make memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or any youth sports activity program. To the Robinson Family. I will alway have great memories of Rob, it never mattered that I was his friends little sister, Rob always greeted me with his big smile, ask how I was doing, inquired about my family as I got older and married myself. he was a great friend and he loved his family greatly. May God keep you all in his loving care.
